An expertise in adult cataract surgery, Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist with 3 decades of experience. S Heads the Department of Cataract, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore since 1997. She graduated from Madurai Medical College in 1989 and did her DO from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and completed her DNB- Ophthalmology in 1993. She has done fellowship at Johns Hopkins – The Wilmer Eye institute- Baltimore, Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia and Julies Stein Eye Institute, LA. She has presented in national and international conferences and has enormous publications to her credit. She has received numerous awards – “Sake of Honour” award from Rotary Club of Udumalpet, “Potra Padum Pengal Award” by the Lions Clubs International – Coimbatore in 2013, Received “Vocational Excellence” Award from Rotary International, Coimbatore and “Best Doctor” Award from MGR University, Tamil Nadu, India in the year 2014.
She has been bestowed with Honorary Doctorate Degree by Vignan University, Vadlamudi, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India in the year 2017. She also bestowed with Dr. S.S. Badrinath SOA SN Alumni Medal 2019 at the annual conference of Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association held at Salem and received Gold Medal at the Annual Conference of Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI) 2019 held at New Delhi for her outstanding achievements and selfless dedication towards advancement in the field of ophthalmology. She is the past president of Coimbatore Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons (CSOS). She is been designated as Co-Convener for the Health & Well-Being Task Force for CII- Indian Women Network, Tamil Nadu since April 2017.
