The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is Malaysia’s premier and award-winning purpose-built facility in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Offering state-of-the-art equipment and facilities with services meeting international standards, the KLCC is Asia’s first AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) Gold Standard venue. KLCC offers over 33,000 square metres of flexible function space and overlooks the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers and 50-acre KLCC Park.
Getting to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)
Getting to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is very convenient as it is accessible by car and public transport. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is located about an hour away by car or LRT.
- Taxi and Ride Shares
Taxis or ride shares (alternatively known as e-hailing) may drop passengers at the entrance of the KLCC. Popular ride-sharing or e-hailing services include Grab, MyCar and Kumpool. - LRT
Visitors can catch the LRT to the KLCC LRT stop. - Car
The KLCC has its own parking area. Parking rates for the first hour or part thereof is RM5.00, with every subsequent hour or part thereof being RM4.00. The maximum rate (5pm to 5am) is RM17.00.

Getting Around
Public transport in Kuala Lumpur is extensive and largely made up of buses and various rail systems, with the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system being the most popular.
You can travel around Kuala Lumpur easily and comfortably by train. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail, and KTM Komuter offer hassle-free accessibility to various parts of the city. Other inter-city rail services offer connections to outlying districts and nearby towns as well.
Public buses and taxis are also the common choices to travel around the city. You can take the Go KL City Bus (pink color), which is a free bus service that serves the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. Taxis in Kuala Lumpur are available 24 hours a day, and can be hailed on the street. Ride-hailing apps such as Grab and MyCar are also operational in the city and are often used by travellers and locals alike.

WCPOS V 2024 will NOT be covering your travel insurance. Please purchase your own travel insurance and check its validity in Malaysia, these should include full medical and evacuation coverage.
Accommodation
Kuala Lumpur is an inexpensive city to visit, with plenty of places to stay within any budget.
- Bukit Bintang
Bukit Bintang is the most popular and central area to stay in Kuala Lumpur, with excellent hotels, restaurants and world-class shopping malls within walking distances. The WSPOS V 2024 venue (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre) is also situated nearby. - Kuala Lumpur City Center – KLCC
KLCC’s main attraction, the Petronas Twin Towers, is within the area. You may find many restaurants, shopping, cafes and pubs within the vicinity and can easily walk over to Bukit Bintang as well. - KL Sentral and Lake Gardens
The area round KL Central Station is a convenient area to stay in for getting around the city by metro and trains. Moreover, you will find some of KL’s biggest attractions in this area: the Botanical Garden, Butterfly Park, Bird Park, National Mosque, and several museums like Malaysia’s National Museum. - Chinatown & Merdeka Square
Chinatown has been through a huge restoration and facelift over the last couple of years. It is now a fun and bustling area to stay in with some of KL’s hippest cafes, restaurants, and bars. Historically best known for its many budget hotel and hostel options, there are now some new, excellent mid-range hotels here, plus our favourite boutique hotels in KL. This is KLs most upcoming area.
Telecommunications
You may purchase a prepaid mobile SIM card at the airport or from telecommunications shops in Malaysia. You are required to present your passport for the vendor to copy and register your new prepaid sim card under your name.
WiFi
The internet and WiFi connections are widely available.
Tipping
Tipping is not customary in Malaysia. Some restaurants, however, levy a 10% service charge on your bill.
Climate
The weather in Malaysia is dominated by a tropical monsoon climate with temperatures varying from 20°C to 35°C with a mean annual temperature of 25.4°C. As this is a tropical climate, Kuala Lumpur experiences occasional rainfall, varying in intensity throughout the year.
Currency Exchange
Malaysia uses the Ringgit. You can change your cash at a bank, with a money changer or at a currency exchange desk. You may also use an ATM to withdraw what you need. Traveller’s checks cannot be used in Malaysia as a direct payment. Many businesses use credit and debit cards. Make sure you have some cash on you, too, just in case of any issues. E-payments or e-wallets are also available, with popular forms of payments being GrabPay and Touch N’ Go.
Safety
Malaysia is a safe and peaceful country. It is ranked 19th on the Global Peace Index and is the third safest country in Asia, behind Japan and Singapore.
