Mary J Marret is a paediatrician and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She is Chairman of the Child Protection Committee at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, which coordinates assessments for suspected child maltreatment. She has an interest in enhancing the competence of professionals in safeguarding children. She has been part of an international committee under the WHO which developed guidelines for the health sector response to child maltreatment. Her research interests are in child victimization across a variety of settings with recent publications on the long-term outcome following abusive head trauma.
