Dr. Shuan Dai, Professor of Ophthalmology at The University of Queensland and Adjunct Professor at Menzies Health Institute, Griffith University, obtained his Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from the School of Medicine, Xi’an Jiao Tong University, China. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at both Beijing Medical University, China and the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and was awarded FRANZCO in 2005. He underwent fellowship training in Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmology and a fellowship in Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada.

Professor Dai is the Director of Ophthalmology at Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Services and Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. He is the current chair of the Royal Australia & New Zealand Strabismus Society. Professor Dai is the Pediatrics & Strabismus Section Editor for the RANZCO Journal: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.

Professor Dai is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, and a Council Member of the Asia Pacific Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmology Society.

Professor Dai specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus and is well known for his expertise in Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology, Strabismus, Pediatric Low Vision, and ROP Telemedicine. He is actively involved in government health policy development in the area of pediatric eye care among various health professionals, as well as in clinical education and research.

Professor Dai’s research interests include Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), ROP Telemedicine, and Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Surgery. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal publications and has presented at over 80 conferences internationally and nationally as a keynote speaker, invited speaker, and speaker.
