Dr. Ibanez took up his ophthalmology residency at Makati Medical Center and fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Kims Eye Hospital, Seoul and Hospital Sant Joan De Deu, Barcelona. He further underwent an Ocular Genetics fellowship under Dr. Alex Levin at Wills Eye Hospital. As one of two clinically trained Ocular Geneticist in the Philippines, he is one of the pioneers of the 1st dedicated ocular genetics clinic in the country at the National Referral Center for Eye Care, the DOH Eye Center, as well as the section head of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Genetics at Makati Medical Center.
