Associate Professor Andrea Vincent MBChB, MD, FRANZCO University of Auckland, ADHB and Retina Specialists, is the first molecular ophthalmologist Clinician-Scientist in New Zealand, and established an Clinical Ocular Genetic Practice, and an Ocular Genetic Research facility undertaking research into the genetics of inherited eye diseases. A database for Inherited Retinal diseases has over 1600 participants, and in conjunction with research collaborations nationally and internationally aim to elucidate the novel and outstanding mutations in this NZ cohort. Dr Vincent has 105 peer reviewed publications, 3 book chapters, and on the editorial board of Ophthalmic Genetics and Orphanet Journal of Rare diseases, the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board chair for Retina NZ, and Retina International, and on two ClinGen expert panels for gene and variant curation.
